I got into this line of work for two reasons. First, I wanted to understand more about boats - everything that made them tick. Why did this system work that way? What was that strange part I’d never seen before? And, most importantly, how do you actually operate, maintain, and trust all of it when you’re out at sea?

At the beginning, when I bought my first “big boat” - a sailboat, a 40-foot Endeavor Center Cockpit - I was completely captivated. She had me under her spell from the start. But that fascination came with questions that I couldn’t ignore. How was this vessel really built? How did her systems work? And, most of all, how safe was she - truly?

The more I learned, the more I realized that boating isn’t just about adventure. Big boats are fun, yes, but they also demand responsibility. Many systems are connected, and when one thing goes wrong, it can trigger a chain of challenges. That’s why redundancy, planning, and seamanship matter so much - not just for convenience, but for the safety of your family and everyone aboard.

That sense of responsibility is what drove me deeper into marine surveying. I wanted to take the guesswork of ownership, not only for myself but for others who love boats as much as I do.

If you’re a new yacht owner, or even just considering your first boat, I know exactly how overwhelming it can feel. The excitement is real - but so are the questions, the unknowns, and the responsibilities. That’s where I can help. As a marine surveyor, my job is to make the process clearer, safer, and less stressful, so you can focus on the adventure ahead. Call me before you make your next move - I’ll give you the confidence to enjoy your yacht knowing she’s safe, sound, and ready for the water!
